The service went well today. Sickness took out our bass player and his keyboard playing daughter, so we had a little different sound this morning. We went with what we had; besides, it’s not about the instrumentation anyway. We can worship the Lord without any instruments at all.
We sang Risen Today after the benediction, so the congregation would hear it as they exited; we will do it again next week, so when we sing it as an opener on Easter Sunday there will be some familiarity. I like and have used Christ the Lord is Risen Today regularly over the years even though it isn’t real guitar friendly. I normally don’t embrace new arrangements of well known and loved hymns, but this arrangement with additional lyrics is really engaging. It will see use after Easter; it is a great song.
