Sunday Set List #37 12/27/2009

We had a good service today; the worship team played and sang well with our normally excellent congregation response.
Nothing really stands out because our Christmas Eve service went exceptionally well.  A packed service set a high sense of expectation.  We brought over chairs from the annex because we ran out of seats.  On Tuesday night and in warm up Thursday night we struggled with the songs.  We were collaborating as a team on the arrangements all the way, but it was ragged.  All of that changed during the service we nailed all the songs and the congregational response was amazing.  After the pastor gave the benediction all the people were standing there with their lit candles.  The worship team typically does a song while everyone is walking out; I decided to repeat “Emmanuel” since it was the theme of the sermon.  No one moved and everyone continued singing with us caught up in the moment.  It was a special time of worship and we could sense “God with us.”  It’s the best Christmas Eve service I can remember.
Hope you had a great Christmas and Sunday.  Here are all the songs we did starting with Sunday:

This all looks really strong! We did Here I Am To Worship for Christmas Eve too!

Doug - great setlists! We also ended our Christmas Eve service with people lighting their candles - at our church, as a trio sang O Holy Night.

I really appreciate your selection and use of songs that many consider older (pre-2k). I think we too often "retire" songs... It's easy to get torn, but something I strive to to also.

Happy New Year!
