Sunday Set List #34 12/6/2009

Medical Lake Community Church

It’s always a pleasure to gather with the people of God and sing to Him and to each other.  It’s always our prayer that He would be pleased with our worship in song. For the second Sunday in Advent we kept with the Advent theme of longing for the coming of Christ in our song selection.  I intentionally hold off on the Christmas songs for the first two Sundays in Advent.

Overall the music went well technically. I forgot to turn on my guitar, but corrected after the first song; it did not affect congregational response though was was great throughout the service.  We did “Revelation Song” for the second time and the response is positive; it’s a great song for Advent.

Here are the songs we sang:

Pine Lodge Corrections Center for Women

Tonight was one of those nights, dark outside, 13° F, windy, and freezing. It was tempting to stay home and inside instead of heading out to the correctional facility.  But I’m glad I braved the weather. Brenda joined me to play the bass and 16 ladies left the warmth of their unit to join us in the chapel.  Chaplain Dave was off, so I covered the sermon too. It was an encouraging evening worshipping the Lord together in song. My sermon approach with the ladies is somewhat interactive, like leading a Bible study only I do more talking than normal.  I find the style really engages the ladies with passage.  We did all the advent songs tonight, many of them were new to them, but they picked them up quickly.  I promised all the Christmas carols when I return in two weeks.  It’s difficult to be away from your family during the Christmas holidays, so for me it’s a priority to make it out there.

Here are the songs we sang tonight:
