Pastor Mark brought another stirring sermon from Romans; he is really driving home Paul’s hard hitting words. Good, sound foundational truths we need to be reminded of.
With just two guitars we had a simpler sound this morning, but the same encouraging congregational response. It seems that the vocals tighten up when we just have guitars. I thought I saw more smiles this morning than normal which stirred my heart.
Risen Today is starting to sound like I knew it could in the congregation as everyone is starting to get more comfortable with it. Sometimes new songs take some time to catch on.
I had some problems in the instrumental intro to Spirit and ended up strumming the first verse by then I had settled down and switched to flatpicking for verse two. Dennis forgot to take the capo of at the start of I Cannot Ignore, but recovered quickly, so there was little impact if any.
We finished with an upbeat version of Living for Jesus (no funeral dirge for us!) and some spontaneous clapping. Note: I made some adjustments of the words in the chorus to update the language and preserve the original intent.
