Sunday Set List #3: 4/19/09

Medical Lake Community Church

This is the first Sunday of recombining our two contemporary services to one. Everyone on the worship team wasn't clear on when practice was this morning so we had to make some adjustments, fortunately the guys are pretty flexible in where they play, so we came out okay. The service went well today. With the sanctuary being more full than normal it was great to really hear the congregation singing. You Are Holy (Prince of Peace) was a new song for the congregation; I have done it with the youth group in the past and decided to try it with the congregation. We will do it for another two weeks so everyone can learn it. We did the last verse of Take My Life and Let it Be acapella and the voices really filled the sanctuary.

It was nice to lead an adult Sunday School class again. Decided to do Acts, the pastor joined us and pointed out he was starting a sermon series on Acts today. We covered the same exact passage, so it was a great warmup for the sermon!!!

Pine Lodge Corrections Center for Women

It's always a pleasure to go out and do a Sunday evening worship service at Pine Lodge. Since my day job is as a college instructor at the Corrections Center, many of the ladies that come out are students from my class. It gives them a chance to see me in a different role especially when I do a sermon to cover the deployed prison chaplain. It also from time to time gives me an opportunity to minister during class when students bring up spiritual conversations. The ladies' active engagement in singing and during the sermon are always an encouragement to me, and they are always appreciative of my coming out to do the service. I often think I get more out of the service than they do. We only have 50 minutes for the service which is tight, and I ran over a bit on the sermon, but they still wanted to do the last song when we ran out of time and that is a good sign.
