About Me

Doug Thorsvik
Hi, I’m Doug Thorsvik and I write the Strategic Song Selection Blog to help worship leaders and pastors in a style conscious society think more deeply about the substance of songs they choose and their impact on those who sing them. I started the Strategic Song Selection Blog in 2009 to wrestle with song selection issues and to provide practical strategies to choose songs that teach the whole counsel of God and help equip Christ followers for a life of faith. I have been regularly leading worship singing and small group Bible studies since 1978. I have been the worship leader (volunteer position) at Medical Lake Community Church since September 1995. I completed a Master of Worship Studies from West Coast Bible College and Seminary in 2010. I’m currently a community college instructor at a local corrections center.
